Sometimes you feel you need a father like Jamie Fraser. Jamie is fictional character in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander book series. But the television series brought him alive. Sam Heughan is amazing. He has never been a father in real life but had been able to come up with flawless performance throughout all the seasons.
Jamie Fraser as a husband and as a father covers all the duties assigned for him under his shoulders. The saddest part in his life is that he had to give up every child he fathered and looked after for some unavoidable reasons. They lost their first child. The second child he thought he would surely die in the battle so he sent Claire back to her own time to raise their child.
Then he fathers a son that was raised by another man. How incredibly sad that his children never knew him. So sad that Jamie being such a good man has to take second place with his own children. He himself tried to help raise another man’s children but the marriage did not work out. Jamie still loved the children but even those he did not raise from infancy.
One of the best scenes we meet in Outlander series is where Jamie taking Bree to a beehive where they sit and talk. Sophie and Sam look perfect together as daughter and father and fans surprised at exactly how good they look together on screen.
Some of the fans who watched the father daughter relationship grow added their voice in Outlander’s official Facebook page. “Lovely. “Jamie” tries so hard to let “Bree” know he loves her no matter the circumstances of their meeting. How could she not “melt” with his heartfelt feelings of fatherhood toward her. They in time will “bond” into a close relationship which will be wonderful. ” one penned. It is so sad to see that Jamie missed most of Bree’s upbringing and we know he would have been an amazing dad. Fans do believe that Jamie deserves just one of his own flesh to raise completely from infant to adult.
Sam Heughan makes everything so real and effortless. It is really a joy to watch he works and breathes life into this character of Jamie Fraser.
I complete agree that Jamie would have made an amazing father. We see that in how he was with Willie, and how lovingly he offered to give Claire another baby in the form of wee Bonny. Also in how he is with Bree after the effort he put forth to find Roger and set things right despite the huge mistake he made. He is amazing as a surrogate father to Ian, and Claire was a big influence in how he viewed discipline too.
