Did Outlander’s William Got Physical Connection Right With Parents?
Outlander fandom raises great concerns over the resemblance of Jamie and his biological son William’s physical appearances in season 7. Some fans argue he is not much alike to Jamie and looks much like his mother Genava. This is about most of the fans think about the trio.
The Story of William
The mother of William was Geneva Dunsany. Fans know the bitter story between her and Jamie. She blackmailed Jamie into having sex with her by finding Jamie’s correspondences with Jennie. Jamie that time was not supposed to have any contact with home. So Geneva made the full use of it by blackmailing Jamie into sex. Her dream was to have sex with a real man before she was tethered (basically sold) to the old man, who was about the age 105.
Geneva died in childbirth. The Lord Ellsmere and they were arguing with her father and told him that he knew the baby wasn’t his. Probably because he and Geneva never actually had sex. He was apparently going to kill the baby by throwing the baby out the window. But Jamie Saved the baby by killing him.
In general shape of the face, ears, chin, brow, eyebrows and mouth. He’s supposed to be more of an amalgamation of Jamie and his mother here.
What Books Say His Resemblance to Jamie.
Since there really can’t be another Sam Heughan the movie people did their best but fans really wanted more mouth-dropping resemblance. Short of CGI, this is probably the best they could do.
In general shape of the face, ears, chin, brow, eyebrows and mouth. He’s supposed to be more of an amalgamation of Jamie and his mother here. In the book he had the same nose and slanted eyes.
What You Think of Other Characters
Not all the Fraser’s have red hair like Jamie. The show actually has Brianna’s kids hair wrong. Jemmy is supposed to have the striking red hair that curls and looks just like Jamie and Brianna which is why they couldn’t tell whose kid he was until his hair was shaved. Mandy on the other hand is supposed to have Claire’s dark curly hair and she’s got a strong connection to her because of that.
In overall Outlander has a great cast It would have been impossible to find someone who looked as much like Sam as William is described to look like Jamie in the books. And to be fair, all of the characters in the series look different to how they are described to look in the books, even Jamie and Claire.
